There is just so much to say about the importance of the huipil for Mayan people!

The huipil is magical, connecting women to the Moon Goddess Ixchel, who taught the first woman how to weave, and to their ancient foremothers who gifted their artistry to the coming generations.

The huipil tells a story, often an ancient one, as women weave in, with symbols and colors, the cherished beliefs of their people, in the face of oppressive forces who want to wipe these out.

The huipil is a powerful symbol of identity, of saying to the world, "This is who I am, and I'm proud of it," even when the world looks down upon them.

The huipil is an amazing work of art, a treasure from the hands and souls of remarkable Mayan women artists.
