There are many ways in which you can contribute to the welfare of our talented weavers and their families.
Tell your local shops that might be interested in our products to visit our website and ask for a catalog.
Host a sale: if you would like to host a retail sale for Mayan Hands, at your church, school, home, local festival or any other venue, email us at UPAVIMMayanHands@comcast.net.
Cash donations can be made to Asociación Tejedoras Unidas (Komon Ajkem)—our non-profit name in Guatemala. Mayan Hands is working on becoming a 501 (C) 3 (non profit) organization in the US. Any donation we receive will go to benefit the weavers directly. In the past couple of years, our donation fund has done the following:
annual purchase of school supplies for approximately 390 children
eye exams and glasses for women in three groups
interest-free loans and grants for the purchase of assorted weaving and yarn handling equipment
equipment and materials on needle felting to expand a group's offering when the market dried up for existing products (workshop taught by Fran Irvine, a volunteer from Concord, New Hampshire)
lunch for 50 women during a special meeting
and coming up, helping to buy vehicles for our two dedicated field workers
