Rainbow Weaver/Tejedora del Arcoíris, by Linda Elovitz Marshall is an uplifting tale of ingenuity and determination. Ixchel, a young Mayan Kaqchikel girl, longs to weave threads into "fabric as beautiful as the rainbow," just like her mother, grandmother and the women in her community, but there isn't enough thread available. The resourceful girl repurposes plastic bags to create colorful weavings and, in the process, cleans up litter in her community. Vibrant illustrations by Elisa Chivarri capture traditional life in a rural Mayan village. Presented in both English and Spanish.
Rainbow Weaver/Tejedora del Arcoíriswas Inspired by Mayan Hands own Plastic Project. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated by the author to support Mayan Hands programs.
