Can I still order?

Yes. When you shop online, you support the women of Mayan Hands by providing them with the income they need to care for their families. We are accepting online orders and will ship them in the order they were received. There may be delays in shipping. Your credit card will not be charged until your order ships. Staff is closely adhering to the recommendations of the CDC, including frequent handwashing, the use of hand sanitizer, social distancing and disinfecting common surfaces.

How are Mayan Hands artisan partners coping with the COVID-19 pandemic? 

Our team in Guatemala continues to be in regular contact with the women, who are quite concerned for their families and communities. They and our team in Guatemala send their best wishes for the well-being of the entire Mayan Hands community, including their customers and supporters who are likewise affected by this global crisis. They are complying with all government regulations, which includes staying at home, social distancing and handwashing. Before the government of Guatemala suspended the operation of all non-essential businesses and public transportation, Mayan Hands held a workshop with the women and provided them with information about the virus and how to prevent its transmission and protect their health. The health and safety of our artisan partners and our dedicated team in Guatemala is our highest priority, as is the well-being of our extended community.

 

What precautions is Mayan Hands taking to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in its facility?

Staff is abiding by all CDC recommendations, including social distancing, thorough handwashing, and disinfecting surfaces. At this time, we are working remotely. Only one person is in the office at a time. The coronavirus is not believed to stay on a surface for more than one to three days. Products in our warehouse have been sitting on shelves for months. When we receive a new shipment, it will have been in transit for over a week. Our warehouse, as well as USPS and UPS, are taking appropriate precautions as recommended by the CDC to prevent the spread of the virus.
