Mayan Hands is excited to welcome our new Executive Director, Madeline Kreider Carlson!
Madeline brings extensive experience working directly with artisans and in the nonprofit sector. She spent the last six years living in Guatemala and Haiti, working with artisans on collaborative product design and continuing artisan education.
Madeline shares: “It’s an exciting time to join Mayan Hands! Our new Strategic Plan, crafted collaboratively by the team and Board of Directors, outlines a path for Mayan Hands to continue growing in alignment with our values. Now, our future success depends upon artisans’ voices shaping our long-term vision and priorities."
"I'm proud to be part of the passionate and dedicated Mayan Hands team, working across borders and united by passion for creating opportunities for Maya women. And I'm overjoyed to continue working with extraordinary women artisans, whose skill and creative energy shines in every product they make."
Madeline speaks Spanish and Haitian Kreyòl, and has a degree in modern Latin American history and sculpture from Haverford College. She enjoys bike touring, sewing, digital illustration, up-cycling projects, and long walks in the woods with her Guatemalan rescue dog.
Bienvenida Madeline!
